Nikki Sixx Admits Getting A Call From His Hero Dolly Parton 'Was A Real Treat'

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx got a phone call from his music hero Dolly Parton, and it was blasting, as he said.

Sixx’s musical journey began in the late 1970s when he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his passion for music. He formed several bands before founding Mötley Crüe in 1981, along with Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, and Vince Neil. The band quickly became one of the biggest names in heavy metal, with their high-energy live shows, wild image, and catchy, anthemic songs.

As the bassist of Mötley Crüe, Sixx was known for his distinctive playing style, which combined elements of punk, hard rock, and heavy metal. His bass playing was a crucial part of the band’s sound, providing a driving rhythm and a melodic counterpoint to Mick Mars’ guitar solos. The musician has been contributing to the band since its first day.

But Sixx’s contributions to Mötley Crüe went beyond just his bass playing. He was also the primary songwriter for many of the band’s most popular songs, including Kickstart My Heart, Wild Side, and Girls, Girls, Girls. His lyrics often dealt with themes of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, but they also explored more serious topics like addiction, love, and loss.

Recently, he updated his Twitter account to share his happiness about getting a call from his music hero Dolly Parton. He praised Dolly by touching on her “ridiculously” talent.

“Met so many of my hero’s and superstars along my path over the last 45 years but getting a call from Dolly yesterday was a real treat,” Sixx says. What a class act and obviously ridiculously talented-What a songwriter.”

A few days ago, Nikki Sixx disclosed through his social media page that he played some bass for Dolly Parton’s upcoming album, Rock Star.

“Played bass on a song for Dolly Parton yesterday,” Sixx said. “Been back in the gym again to beat the jet-lag from the tour and enjoying family time.”

Nikki Sixx, with his band Mötley Crüe – also featuring John 5 as a touring guitarist – has been preparing to continue The World Tour alongside the co-headliner Def Leppard. The tour officially kicked off on February 10, 2023. It is expected to conclude on August 18, 2023.
