Nikki Sixx Blasts Carmine Appice Over His Mick Mars Comments

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx has blasted Carmine Appice after he commented on Mick Mars‘ departure from his band Mötley Crüe.

Mick Mars has been a member of Mötley Crüe since the band’s first day in 1981. The musician had contributed to the band’s entire stuff until they disbanded in 2015. In 2019, Mötley Crüe officially announced its comeback with a Stadium Tour after announcing its retirement from touring four years ago. However, the band completed their comeback tour in 2022, earning a whopping $173.5 million.

In mid-October 2022, Mötley Crüe announced a new tour with Def Leppard, which was The World Tour. One week later, it was rumored that Mick Mars would no longer be able to tour with Mötley Crüe. Following, Mötley Crüe announced John 5 as the new touring guitarist, replacing Mick Mars. At the time, the band said the reason he parted ways with touring with the band was Mick Mars’ health issues that he had been struggling with for years.

A few days ago, on March 14, Carmine Appice, who is a close friend of Mick Mars, talked about the guitarist’s leaving Mötley Crüe. According to him, Mars told him he “was sick of touring,” adding he “was not happy” during the Stadium Tour. He also claimed that “everything throughout the tour was pre-recording tapes.”

Recently, during his ritual fan Q&A session on Twitter, a fan asked Sixx whether Appice told people was true. Commenting on Appice‘s words, Sixx blasted the drummer by sending disrespectful words. He claimed what Appice said wasn’t true.

“A washed-up drummer speaking for our band without any of the facts is as ridiculous as bottom-feeder media running with stories without fact-checking,” Sixx tweeted. “When you hear the truth, it will be from us.”

Nikki Sixx Calls Carmine Appice ‘A Washed-Up Drummer’

Nikki Sixx then responded to another fan’s tweet. Sixx once again called Carmine Appice as a washed-up drummer. He also gave an update about his band’s future plans, saying that there would be preparing to play in Europe, Australia, and Japan.

“A washed up drummer trying to speak for us,” Sixx said. “And bottom feeder media running with it to make money off of lies? Welcome to the sad new world of LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME. Up next for us, a stadium tour in Europe, Australia, Japan etc.”

One month after Mick Mars left Mötley Crüe‘s then-upcoming tour, in November 2022, Carmine Appice appeared on Michael’s Record Collection to reveal why Mick Mars left the band. Regarding the musician’s solo works, Appice said Mars criticized his band for their decision to tour after their final one in 2015.

“I talked to Mick Mars, who’s been touring with Mötley Crüe,” Appice said. “He just gave up his seat in touring with Mötley Crüe. And John 5 is gonna tour with them. He said, ‘Man, we did our final tour [in 2015]. Now we’re out again doing this major tour with Def Leppard.’ And he said, ‘I don’t wanna do it no more. I’m sick of being in a bus.’

“He said he’s gonna do a solo album and go out and do some gigs. I said, ‘Look, if you need anyone to play drums, I’ll play with you.’ He goes, ‘That would be great.’”
