Roger Waters Alleges Conspiracies Against Him With Split From BMG
Roger Waters alleges conspiracies against him after being “fired” by BMG, a German-based publishing company. Waters’ controversial comments about Israel, Palestine, Ukraine, and the United States were ultimately what led to the split by BMG.
In an exclusive by Yahoo News, “it is common for artists to be “dropped” from their recording contracts by record companies, it is a far less frequent occurrence for major publishing deals.”
Roger Waters Biography
Roger Waters is an English musician and singer-songwriter, born on September 6, 1943. He is best known as the co-founder and bassist of the rock band Pink Floyd.
During his tenure in Pink Floyd, Waters concepts and lyrics laid the foundation of several of the most successful rock albums ever. He wrote all the lyrics to iconic albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Final Cut. The Wall was largely written by Waters along with David Gilmour and Bob Ezrin.
After Pink Floyd, Waters embarked on his solo career and released four albums.
Pink Floyd Separation
Roger Waters officially left Pink Floyd in 1985 amid creative differences and began a legal dispute over the use of the band’s name and material. He initiated High Court proceedings to formally dissolve the Pink Floyd partnership, labeling the group a “spent force creatively.” Waters issued a statement to EMI and CBS invoking the “Leaving Member” clause in his contract, and in October 1986, he started High Court proceedings to dissolve Pink Floyd. They settled out of court in 1987, and Waters signed away the rights to the name Pink Floyd to get out of his contract with the band.
Roger Waters Politics And Controversy
Never one to shy away from politics, his outspoken criticism of Israel and his support for causes like the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, have led to allegations of antisemitism.
Waters called the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel a possible “false flag operation” and the world doesn’t really know “what actually happened”. He insinuated there’s “something very fishy” with the civilian death toll. The comments come after outrage ensued early last year while performing in Berlin Germany. Waters performed onstage in an Nazi-style outfit reminiscent of Nazi SS officer and was investigated by German police.
In an October 2022 article by Variety magazine, Waters stated that Jewish people in US and UK bear the responsibilty for the actions of Israel “particularly because they pay for everything” and they are “supporting the apartheid project that’s the state of Israel.” Roger further elaborated, “when I say we, I’m now speaking as a taxpayer in the United States are not. We are the most evil of all by a factor of at least 10 times. We kill more people. We interfere in more people’s elections. We, the American empire, is doing all this shit.”
When asked about Russia and Crimea, “we don’t agree that Russia annexed the Crimea, which is the story that was… No, it didn’t.” Waters also spoke about the plot against him. “Don’t forget, I’m on a kill list that is supported by the Ukrainian government. I’m on the fucking list and they’ve killed people recently.”

Roger Waters Response to BMG
He has characterized his separation from BMG as a form of suppression of his political beliefs and the result of pressure from a Jewish nonprofit.
According to psychologists, most people begin to mellow with age, but most people aren’t Roger Waters. At 80 years old he’s continues to be outspoken, test boundaries, and turn conventional beliefs upside down. You can agree with him or disagree with him, but Waters does not back down. His defiant spirit continues to burn bright. Roger’s emphatically states, “If you’re one of those ‘I love Pink Floyd but I can’t stand Roger’s politics’ people, you might do well to fuck off to the bar right now.”
