In this album, Deep Purple wanted to create something different but closer as a sound to their live shows and hired the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio for recording, and block-booked the Montreux Casino as a venue. Unfortunately, the casino burned to the ground during a Frank Zappa concert. As a result, the band decided to book the Grand Hotel and got its sound perfectly. After all those events, particularly the casino fire, Deep Purple‘s chart-breaking song Smoke On The Water came down.
